Welcome to the latest edition of the Ward 5 newsletter!
HIGHLIGHTS
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in Green Up Day! Your efforts made our city more beautiful, and we couldn’t have done it without you. The enthusiasm and dedication shown by our community were truly inspiring.
This month, they kicked off the Farmer’s Market with an array of amazing vendors. From fresh produce to handcrafted goods, there’s something for everyone. Vendors in Taylor Park also kicked off their first event in May. Be sure to visit and support our local artisans and farmers!
A few weekends ago, we celebrated Kingman Fest, and what an event it was! The vendors were awesome, the music was superb, and the turnout was fantastic. If you missed it this year, make sure to mark your calendar for next year – you won’t want to miss it!
I attended a community forum on improvement project planning for the Exit 19 intersection at the top of the highway access road. This road has seen a steady increase in traffic as one of the major gateways into our town and city, and it’s important that we consider the future when moving forward with whatever plan is selected. VTrans presented two primary ideas: a roundabout and an enhanced traffic light setup. Your input and engagement in these discussions are crucial as we work together to make the best choice for our community’s future. If you have questions or would like to share your feedback please email me at erik@ward5vt.com.
Today, Monday, May 27th, Memorial Day, we honored our heroes who defended our country and allies. We extend our gratitude to all of our fallen soldiers, sailors, and defenders of our nation. Our local organizations put together a wonderful parade from BFA to Taylor Park.
Today was also the grand opening of the Saint Albans Community Arts center at the old Ralston’s building on the corner of Kingman and Main. They’ll be hosting art classes, activities, theater groups, cosplays and so much more, check them out online or visit their new location.
